Adopting a GDROC Dane
| The Process: Step 1: Fill out an adoption application and mail it to us Step 2: Our volunteers will check your references, and this may take a few days. Step 3: A volunteer will call to schedule a homevisit. Step 4: Your application as well as homevisit information will be reviewed and a decision will be made as to whether you are an approved home or not and you will be notified of this decision. If approved: Volunteers and foster families will help arrange visits between you and the Dane you are interested in. Please note: All applicants will be thouroughly screened and the information you provide in your application will be verified. We take the placement of our Danes very seriously. |
| Requirements for adoption: 1. As stated on the Available Danes page, no GDROC Dane will be placed in a home which intends to house the Dane outside or currently houses a dog outside. 2. Adopters must have a fenced in yard, invisible fences are not acceptable as the only means of containing a GDROC Dane. 3. If the Dane to be adopted is under 2 years old, adopter must complete and obedience course within 6 months of adoption and provide proof of this. 4. Adoption fees are 100% tax deductable. Danes under 1 year old are $350. Danes over 1 year old are $300. |
