The Process:

Step 1: Fill out an adoption application and mail it to us. Click here or above.
Step 2: Our volunteers will check your references, and this may take a few days.
Step 3: A volunteer will call to schedule a home visit.
Step 4: Your application as well as home visit information will be reviewed and a
decision will be made as to whether you are an approved home or not and you will be
notified of this decision.

If approved: Volunteers and foster families will help arrange visits between you and
the Dane you are interested in.

Please note: All applicants will be thoroughly screened and the information you
provide in your application will be verified.  We take the placement of our Danes very
seriously.

If you are interested in adopting from GDROC, please fill out an application while in
the early stages of looking for a Great Dane.  If you wait until you see a Dane you like,
it may already by adopted by the time you are approved.  Being approved first, makes
the process go faster.

** Also, if you are approved to adopt, please consider fostering a homeless Great Dane
for us while you search for your new Dane.  You will be helping another Great Dane and
you just might find your new family member where you least expected!

New Change as of January 1, 2010:  GDROC will only place Danes in homes with
children age 5 and older.  This us for your safety as well as the Dane's.
GDROC is located in the Virginia Beach/Chesapeake area of Virginia.  We adopt mostly in
this area, but out-of-area adoptions may be possible in some limited cases.
