11/25/2008:  Medical Emergency - Bloat
On the evening of 11/25/2008, Goliath had to be rushed to the emergency vet
clinic for bloat.  He experienced all the sudden classic symptoms and was taken
into surgery upon arrival at the clinic.  After several hours of surgery, we were
lucky and Goliath pulled through.  He will have a period of recovery, but should
be okay.  
Bloat is a very serious medical issue and, if not caught in time, can lead to
death.  It basically involves an excess accumulation of gas and liquid in the
stomach.  If the stomach twists over, nothing can get in or out.  For more

Update:  Goliath is home from the emergency clinic.  The good news is he will
recover and go on to be a normal, happy dog!
It took Goliath a little
bit of time to be
convinced to get out
of the car, but he was
happy to be home!
